Living the Sky

When I look up at the sky, I am not sure about its infiniteness or number of constellations it can actually hold. But I can tell you there are a million pairs of eyes looking at it for gazillion reasons.

For a child flying his kite, the sky is the boundary. Every time he is ready to fly a kite he looks up at the sky and wishes to reach it that time. The sky has always been an epitome of hope for many. After a very long day of planting his every little crop, a farmer looks at the blueness of it, hoping it would change black in no time soon.

As I write this, I remember the lines from one of the Trains' song. It goes like, '’Cause when I look to the sky something tells me you’re here with me’’. Yes, for people who lost their dearest ones, sky and its stars are the final entity they can look up to. Under the night sky, with none around, tears down the cheeks, all they can do is stare at the stars and wish the star that left would be back soon.

For all the day dreamers who can relate to me, let me tell you, we can never figure out why staring at the sky makes us dream, dream about things we very badly want to happen. May be the endlessness of it gives us an idea that there are endless chances for us in life’s store. May be the sunrise assures us that there is always a better tomorrow. And the sunset promises us that endings can also be beautiful. For those who can hear to the sky, it has always got to say, "dream, dream and dream."

What more can a sky offer? Astronomy for astronomers, constellations for astrologers, awe through binoculars and what not? So, Everybody has got their own reasons to get mystified by the unfathomable sky. To me, its vastness reflects the universe within. Every time I look at it, I could feel my tiny presence in the infiniteness the galaxy has to offer. The keenness to know what is behind the horizon arises just like the quest to find myself in the journey called life. Let us admit that the sky is erupting in us, a volcano of emotions just to let us feel the aspects of life. So, when we look at it next time, let us not forget to feel alive.
