Your attitude determines your altitude

If there are no highs and lows on the screen of a heart rate monitor, the person connected to it is said to be dead. So is our life. It is full of happy moments and sad episodes, victories and losses, chaos and clarity and so on. No matter what the situation is, the way we keep our cool and maintain a great attitude is everything. Having the right attitude towards life’s situation is crucial and this skill is considered to be a much needed one.

“When life throws a stone at you, catch it and build a castle out of it.”

Having a positive attitude even in the darkest days of life can keep you going. “Growing through what you go through” is the right kind of attitude as far as I believe, because every situation in life comes up to us to teach us something we lack knowledge in. It helps us gain a different perspective and makes us stronger. Like the two sides of a coin, every problem has both negative and positive aspects.

How to find the positive side and stay strong throughout?

It is okay to fail:

You either win or you learn. Failure develops a strong will in you to find new strategies and ways to push yourself up, if and only if you are going to take it in an optimistic way. Remember, if Edison had given up inventing the bulb after his ten thousand failed attempts, this world would have not been lit. He inspired people with his right attitude just by quoting, “I have not failed. I have just found 10000 ways that won’t work.”

Power of positive affirmations:

How you talk to yourself is really important. Taking positive affirmations everyday helps in leveling up your charismatic attitude. The concept of positive affirmations is basically from the self — affirmation theory of science. It helps to affirm positivity to your subconscious mind. Researchers say that neural pathways get increased when self-affirmation tasks are practiced. The ventromedial prefrontal cortex of the brain, which works on positive valuation, becomes highly active during the taking in of positive affirmations

Practice mindfulness:

Mindfulness is the ability of being self-aware and focusing thoroughly in the present. Practicing mindfulness everyday reduces the overwhelming and the over-reactive side in you. So, when the situations are not in your favor, you would be able to give it space and time before reacting. This decreases the chance of you giving an unnecessary reaction and messing up things.

How to practice mindfulness:

>Focus on your breath often.

>Do one thing at a time.

>Go for a walk in nature and notice the movements of your body.
